Christopher Columbus To Arawaks - See You Later
Italian explorer Christopher Columbus came upon Jamaica in 1494. "The Far Side" cartoon below shows Columbus' ships (Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria) leaving the island, and the native Arawak Indians noting an ominous sound in the way they said "see you later". As fate would have it, many Spanish settlers returned, enslaving the Arawaks and eventually wiping them out through slavery and disease.
